How the fuel surcharge works
A fuel surcharge (FSC) is a weekly adjustment to base freight rates that reflects changes in diesel fuel costs. Like most carriers, Lykes Cartage uses the U.S. Department of Energy's weekly average diesel price as the index.
The current surcharge is published each week and applies to all shipments moving during that week. It is billed as a percentage of the base linehaul rate and appears as a separate line item on your invoice.
If you have questions about the current FSC or how it applies to your account, call your nearest terminal or contact us at sales@lykescartage.com.
